Out with the old, coming in hot with the new. With the long-abandoned and coveted River North spot on the corner of Erie and La Salle (boasts 334 indoor seats and 40 outdoor seats of sidewalk dining), it's exciting to here that the former Martini Park spot is being occupied. By whom you ask? Viva la Revolución! The Mercadito empire is expanding. Much like the wildfire that Mercadito caused in New York, with multiple venues throughout the city, Chicago is catching on. Set to open in summer, Tavernita will undisputedly serve up Latin food and cocktails with the same zest and new twists we have known to come and love at Mercadito. Summer can't come soon enough.
